Historian

The historian can store and manage large amounts of VQT and Alarms & Events data - no matter if it is real-time data coming in through any of the Connectivity features or if its historical data imported from external historians with the Data Transfer features. It is built on the highly performant MongoDB and leverages its scalability features, including sharding and Replica Sets. This ensures reliable data storage with full integration of MongoDB’s security and high availability capabilities. To further improve the efficiency of data storage and retrieval, the system uses Data Stores that are specific for the individual types of data. These Data Stores are organized in Data Store Sets allowing redundant data storage in multiple datastores, which can be used to increase data availability and improve access times.

Object Data Historization

To enable data historization for an object, the Archive Options > Archive Selection property needs to have the proper Data Store Set selected, and in the object’s Archive Options > Storage Strategy property, the checkbox for Raw History has to be marked as selected.

Controlling Purging

The system provides various options that allow fine control of the purging of historized data from the data stores to manage storage space. These options are addresses on the dedicated Purging Options page.
