Data Transfer
The Data Transfer features enable the movement of historical data between the system and external historians, as well as between multiple AspenTech Inmation systems. These capabilities support various data integration scenarios, from real-time data replication to backfilling historical gaps. Data Transfer also includes the internal transfer of data between components and delivery of values to the historian.
Internal Data Transfer
The Internal Data Transfer feature handles the real-time flow of data within the system. The Store and Forward capability ensures reliable data delivery by buffering data when the destination is temporarily unavailable, preventing data loss in unreliable network conditions.
Inmation to Inmation
The Inmation to Inmation feature transfers data between multiple AspenTech Inmation systems. This enables bi-directional data synchronization across distributed system instances.
External to External Data Transfer
The External to External Data Transfer feature uses the system as an intermediary to transfer historical data from one external historian to another. The History Transfer Controller object manages the end-to-end transfer process, coordinating data retrieval from a source historian into the system historian and delivery to a destination historian. With the History Transport Manager data can be transferred without being stored in the system historian. It is used in conjunction with the Generic Time Series Buffer which on the one hand requires the implementation of a custom export logic with Lua scripting, while on the other hand making the export process more flexible and adaptable to specific data formats and transfer requirements.
Import & Export
The Import & Export feature imports historical data from external historians into the system historian using the History Transporter object. Similarly, export historical data from the system historian to external historians using the History Transfer Controller or the HistoryExporterobject.
