Node Concept

Introduction

The Node is the new component in AspenTech Inmation OT Data Fabric that replaces all the former components/service roles known in AspenTech Inmation, like the Core, the Connector, the Server, and the Relay.

The Node combines all the functionality of the former components and additionally, replaces the WebAPI service, that used to be a separate binary in AspenTech Inmation. Instead, the Node is capable of exposing a HTTP/WebSockets interface itself.

Nodes can be distributed hierarchically in a nested structure, which allows to have all functionality (data ingress, data egress, http interface, local configuration/visualization, local data archiving, …) on every level of the Node hierarchy on demand. This also allows for a full system to be run as a single process (excluding the MongoDB database service).

The Node can run as a Windows service, like the former component services, but is in addition available as a Linux container. The latter also supports ARM processor architectures.

In a system comprised of more than one Node the operating system and processor architecture can vary for each Node; Windows and Linux container instances can be mixed and matched without limitation.

See System Requirements for more details.
