Installation

This section of the documentation contains installation instructions for AspenTech Inmation OT Data Fabric.

Installation Directories

When the system is installed on either Windows or Linux, certain directories are created in the chosen installation directory, under the inmation.root directory (or in the case of the data folder, this could be in another location, for example, Program Data).

  • bin - Contains the inmation.exe executable file.

  • data - Contains the data directories listed below.

    • log - System log files for Node and WebServer.

    • state - Contains image and certificates directories.

      • img - Contains the lmdb image containing system configuration data.

      • certificates - Contains client and server certificates.

    • work - Working directory for Node service. Contains Store and Forward, installed package data, Dropzone working folder and system db files.

  • html - Location for WebStudio and related files (file structure must be created manually if installing from command line).

  • packages - Location of zip files for installing. Packages

It is recommended to use the Program Files directory of the Windows host for installation location. This limits access to Administrators only and allows for proper IT access control. For the same reasons, the Program Data directory is used by default for the data folder when using the Windows Setup installer as the image contains sensitive data.
The path to the AspenTech Inmation OT DataFabric executable, config file, startup script, data folder etc. must only contain ASCII characters. Non-ASCII characters in these paths can cause installation issues.
