Administration

The Administration section provides the guidance required to deploy, configure, secure, and maintain an AspenTech Inmation system.

The System Architecture pages provide an introduction to the Node Concept and also addresses the Differences between OT Data Fabric and AspenTech Inmation.

The installation and update procedures for the system are addressed in the Installation documentation.

Generally use cases are addressed in the Features main section of the AspenTech Inmation documentation. The functionality of those features is in most cases provided by multiple object types working hand in hand. The Object Guides explain the functionality of each individual object type as well as its configuration. Information on object types that don’t have an Object Guide can be found in the Class pages of the Object Model Reference documentation in the API main section. Normally these objects don’t need to be set up manually and don’t require any configuration. In specific cases additional functionality needs to be added to the system. In these situations, the the Package Management documentation which describes how this is done, is referenced.

The Certificate Management pages explain certificate setup and management for secure communication, while in the System Security section authentication, permissions, security references, and password policy are addressed. For backup and recovery workflows refer to the Backup and Restoration documentation

The section on Internal Workings provides background information on essential concepts of the system.
